Basic Info
Name:Saable S'hen
Website:Four Cities [RPG]
Bio
B A S I C ;
Name: Arcinos S'hen.
Alias: Saable (universally known).
PB: Herring.
Age: 358 years old.
Apparent age: 28 years old.
Place of birth: Halsteinn.
Place of residence: Arcadia.
Gender: Male.
Height: 6'1.
Eyes: Dark blue.
Hair: Black.
Species: Shade.
Race: Kerbane.
Occupation: Unofficial butler Bodyguard.
Family: Vole S'hen (father, deceased), Zyra S'hen (mother, deceased).
Religion: Arcanism.

Education: He went through the complete thirty years through "the Cad," without having gone through the Institute. He had been enrolled somewhat against his will, but he later would say that he was glad to have gone. That is to say that he feels that with the "education" that he gathered there he can now better serve Iain – and in turn, Arcas.

Abilities: Light manipulation: within a set range of about a three-foot diameter circle, he can create a sudden increase the intensity of light meant to temporarily blind and disorient the individual within that range. However, he has to be within the same are area of influence as the individual rather than able to send this pulse outward. That said, he usually has to look away suddenly so that he too isn't blinded. At the same time, he can create a small ball of light about the intensity of a candlelight within a darkened area should no other light source be available.

If he can get close enough and set his hand over someone's eyes, he can create a concentrated burst of light meant to damage retinas and permanently blind someone -- however, he can moderate this light to do the same as his wide-spread defensive attack, that is simply disorient and see stars for a few moments.

His method of killing is through the use of daggers – which he uses to lodge in the heads of disoriented enemies or jam the blade through the center of their throats. They had each been enchanted for further accuracy. Given his loose-fitting clothing, he can easily fit quite a few of those small blades up his sleeves without anyone being the wiser. Of course, he has to be careful where he turns least he accidentally sticks himself if he turns wrong. This is why his posture seems stiff which is considered normal given his "military background."

Strengths: Light manipulation, proficiency in fighting with throwing and regular daggers, swordsmanship, hand-to-hand combat, stealth.

Weaknesses: General lack of people skills, desire to pick up any animal that he happens to spot in order to eat it, allowing himself to be talked into the most ridiculous of things, impulsive (without Iain around; something of a renegade without his master present).

Habits: Biting of his nails (mostly in worry, sometimes when he is bored or trying to resist picking some stray animal to bite its head off).

Hobbies: Worrying over Iain, snarking or starting arguments with the general populous of Arcadia.

Likes: Iain and the Kress family, doing things for Iain, Brinn (usually harassing), threatening to eat someone's face (or tear some body part off), defenseless little animals.

Dislikes: Everyone else (occasionally, a person can come around that makes him actually think twice about this, but for the most part given what he is, he's distrustful of everyone), unnecessary trouble, animal lovers.

For the most part, Saable wears fairly loose, comfortable-looking clothes. He generally looks the part of a servant. It is difficult to see from how he dresses, but Saable is actually rather muscular. There actually really isn't anything to note about him that sets him apart from the rest of society. He would blend in rather well in a crowd, except that he usually is scowling at something or frantically wondering where his young master had run off to. His nails are bitten down quite a bit, but he continues to chew on them, occasionally drawing blood.
P E R S O N A L I T Y ;
To the Kress family, Saable is a polite, almost soft-spoken individual. He goes far out of his way for them in order to make their lives comfortable. That said, he does the same for Iain to make sure that he doesn't have to tax himself too much. It really worries him more than he lets on that the youngest son just walks around in broad daylight as he does – given his occupation. Of course, no one really knows of that.

The most anyone knows is that Iain is of some aristocratic family because of how Saable only refers to him as "my lord" or "young master."

As far as he treats everyone else, he treats them like they are toys; constantly teasing them like a cat would a mouse. He snarls at them occasionally and often gets uppity in an attempt to defend his young master's honor. This usually involves verbal threats or "unprovoked" physical attacks.
H I S T O R Y ;
Saable (originally Arcinos) was named such in honor of Arcas. Obviously, he was given a lot of heat because of his name – seriously, a Kerbane with a name meant to honor the Watergiver; it was almost an insult to Arcas rather than any tribute. His parents did not seem to understand how much torment that he was suffering and merely said that eventually, he would show his worth and everyone would see that he actually did deserve such a name. Saable doubted that that would actually come, what their terribly humble job of handling livestock and occasionally having him go out in the street in order to beg for money. It was humiliating even if these were the situations that he was born into. But, for his parents, it was a very good life as they had enough food without having to become renegades who devoured the people of the city to survive as well as a small bit of livelihood.

One day, Saable would simply say he lost it. He couldn't stand how he was living and no one was listening to him. For the longest time he had been holding back his anger, his disgust, this had cut back on how much that he was willing to eat with his parents. When he finally lost his temper, finally began telling them how horrible everything was, he merely would say that he blacked out as soon as he began shouting. When he came to, his parents' faces had been partially eaten and he could taste their blood in his mouth. Somehow, he wasn't upset about this as he was relieved. This meant that he could live a life that he chose. It honestly felt like he was able to break from the false reality that his parents were living in.

He left their bodies to rot within their house. Given their status in the city, people merely assumed that his parents lashed out at one another rather than their son having killed them. Regardless, no formal investigation was set forth and they considered Saable a simple runaway from a violent home. It wasn't anything worth getting into.

If Saable were honest, he would say that he was not sure how he got involved with the Kress family. That is he is still surprised that they accepted him. Sure they needed a worker and he was willing to be a servant in a nice, respectable home than how he used to live. But it was still surprising. Regardless, he kept himself fed by eating embroks and egens that came around the house premises. In some ways, he was like one large cat for the household.

Eventually, after so many years of loyal service, he was enrolled into "the Cad." It was somehow decided that Saable would be a good guard for the house. He did not get along too well with the other students and kept mostly to himself. As far as he was concerned, the Kress family was the only ones that actually accepted him and continued to support him to become a more active member in society. In return, he made a solemn vow to always look after their family. And eventually, he was given the duty to look after the youngest son.

This he considered (and still considers) a great honor.
A D D I T I O N A L ;
For the years between his parents' murder and his employment to the Kress family, Saable kept himself fed by wandering out in the desert and eating the vermin that were out there rather than debasing himself in front of the citizens of his city. Of course, he also enjoyed devouring whatever wanderers and orphan children (possibly the same reasons as him, but because of crimes that the parents' committed) to also come out at the times that he was. However, he never ate anyone with direct connection to the city -- that is an individual that would actually be missed.
